The Story Behind Heirloom Dental

The name Heirloom was chosen intentionally.
 
An heirloom is something passed down from one generation to the next, something cared for, protected, and valued over time.
 
That idea reflects both the history of our practice and the relationships we’ve built with our patients.
 
In 1976, Dr. Van Allen began practicing dentistry in Brantford with a vision of providing exceptional care while building lasting relationships within the community.
 
Years later, his daughter, Dr. Leah Van Allen, followed in his footsteps, continuing the family’s commitment to dentistry and patient care.
 
Today, Heirloom Dental represents the next chapter of that journey. A practice that honours its history while embracing the future of dentistry.
 
The name may be new, but the commitment to our patients remains exactly the same.

A Legacy of Smiles

For nearly 50 years, our practice has grown alongside the families and communities we serve. The story of Heirloom Dental is one of dedication, growth, and a commitment to creating healthy smiles that last a lifetime.

1976

Dr. Van Allen graduates from The University of Western Ontario with degrees in Zoology and Doctor of Dental Surgery and begins practicing in Brantford.

1981

Market Street Dental opens in a restored heritage building, creating a welcoming dental home for generations of patients.

2004

Dr. Leah Van Allen graduates from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and begins her journey in the profession.

2006

Dr. Van Allen celebrates 30 years in practice while Dr. Leah continues building her career alongside him.

2023

Dr. Leah purchases the practice and property, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the future of patient care.

2024

Dr. Leah celebrates 20 years in dentistry, continuing the family legacy after purchasing the practice from her father years earlier

2025

Dr. Van Allen, MaryJane, and Kristal celebrate decades of dedication, while Nicole, Dr. Leah, and Melissa mark years of teamwork as construction begins on the future home of Heirloom Dental.

2026

Heirloom Dental continues a tradition of trusted care while investing in the future of dentistry and the communities we serve.
